Tarangambadi is a small coastal town located in Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. I first visited it when I was very young. I remembered only few things which I saw back then. I remember exploring the fort and playing in the sea shore with my cousins. Recently I had to visit Karaikal, part of Pondicherry which is 132 Kms away from Pondicherry. The first thing that came to my mind was Tarangambadi (It is 15 kms from Karaikal). While returning from Karaikal I made time to visit Tarangambadi again. The Danish fort is small and is currently used as a museum. There was a huge whale skeleton kept in the museum when I saw first. There are some ruins in the sea, probably the old pier.

Beautiful shots. This place is in my travel wish list.
Hi Rajesh, yes its a nice place. There are other tourist spots around Tharangambadi. So you can make a plan and visit nearby places too.
the fort looks so European……though i liked the pics of sea and shore more …..Puducherry is close to Bengaluru….some 5-6 hrs drive…though haven't been there ever….but would like too….it's just everybody is hung up on Goa so much no one want to go anywhere else….
Hi Hitesh, True, its very European. I guess one weekend is enough to explore Pondy. And as you said it wont take much time from B'lore to Pondy.
